I’ve just moved to Queensland

I was warned… “mate, the people are different up there”. But I’m only moving 6 hours north, how different could ‘they’ be? Brisbane, Queensland, AustraliaSo far they’ve been nothing but bloody awesome. Sure there are some different rules. Like, we need to have our cars checked for Queensland standards. Which is really quite bizzare considering once they have undertaken some god awful stringent over the pits type of fine tooth comb inspection, you’re free to let rust to within a inch of it’s life!

After living in country NSW for the past 7 years we’re loving all that big city Brisbane has to offer. The great thing being, it’s not a city the way I think of a city. It’s really green! It’s just like I’ve heard, it’s like a overgrown country town. So apparently the buses knock off early earlier than the trains which leaves people stranded, but hey, I like it better than the cold vibe of Sydney I’m used to visiting. In fact, I’m loving Brissy.

One thing I can’t get into is putting my stubby into a stubby holder. It’ just doesn’t feel right. And as for this XXXX stuff they call beer. It’s bloody horrible. I’m sticking with my Coopers Red or Tooheys black thanks.

And another thing, I thought Brissy was supposed to hot! So we were over the moon when we landed a house with a pool. But it’s been soooo cold since we’ve been here I can’t even swim in it. As soon as the sun peers around the corner I dip my foot in just to check but no, it’s freezing!

Well I’ve only been here for a short while so I’m not sure what to expect from the cultural cross border differences, anyone got any other warning about Queensland I oughtta know about?
